IIT Roorkee Students Get 289 Job Offers: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is one of the best group of institutions in India. First day of Phase I of campus placement season in IIT Roorkee commenced on December 1. The students at this university have a great reason to rejoice as 289 job offers which includes 4 international placements were seen on the first day which is a great achievement for the faculty members as well.
According to Times of India report, The computer science and engineering department saw maximum number of offers handed out to 49 students, followed by the electrical engineering department (40 students) and electronic engineering department (37 students). However, the placement officials refused to divulge the maximum pay package that has been offered to students.
IIT Roorkee Students Get 289 Job Offers on Day 1:
The first session of the season saw nine companies — Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Uber, Tower Research, Schlumberger, Isro, Webstaff Co Ltd, ONGC and ITC — interview 315 students. Around 58 offer letters were handed out during the session, out of which 21 placements involved jobs in the core sector while 37 in the non-core sector.
N P Padhy, professor-in-charge of placement, said, “The response on the first day is quite encouraging. A total of 240 companies have registered with us for the placement season this year. We hope to have an excellent season this time with the number of companies expected to go up to 300.” The placements, a yearly activity at the IITs, will go on till May 2018. The first round of placements is expected to be over by December 15.
The first session had four international offers, three from Microsoft and one from Webstaff Co Ltd, being made to successful candidates. In second session, 800 students were interviewed by 26 companies and 131 placement offers were handed out.
