Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar Join Hands For ‘Kesari’: Film Based on Battle of Saragarhi


After many speculations, Finally, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar and superstar Akshay Kumar have officially announced the upcoming movie on the Battle of Saragarhi.  Akshay Kumar and Karan confirmed the news on Twitter and revealed that film is titled as ‘Kesari‘.

The excited 50-year-old actor not only starring, he is also co-producing the film. Akshay shared a picture divulging details about the historical movie and tweeted, “A film I’m extremely excited about personally and emotionally… #Kesari releasing Holi 2019.”

“Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar proudly present Kesari based on one of the bravest battles fought in India ‘The Battle of Saragarhi.’ Directed by Anurag Singh and starring Akshay Kumar. Releasing Holi 2019,” reveals the picture shared by Akshay Kumar.

Karan Johar tweeted, “Mega film announcement coming up….watch this space!”. “Extremely excited to see this exceptional and brave story unfold!!! @akshaykumar #KESARI #holi2019”. He Added, “Sunir Kheterpal of Azure Entertainment had first brought the film to us and are co producers along with @akshaykumar and me #Kesari !”.

Earlier, Salman Khan was also a collaborator on the project and was supposed to co-produce the film with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.  However, there were rumours that Sallu Bhai had opted out of the project later as Ajay Devgn too is making a film on the same subject. But Salman had rubbished the rumours with a tweet saying, “Don’t follow rumors..follow me..ek baar jo maine commitment kar di toh phir…vry much doing film with @akshaykumar”. But, due to unforeseen circumstances, Salman Khan opted out of the project.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has just wrapped up the Patiala shooting schedule of his upcoming sports biopic, Gold. Besides Gold, the actor currently has films like Padman, 2.0 and Mogul in his kitty.
