Pakistan Censor Board Ban’s Mahira Khan Verna Film Due to Rape Scene


The Most Awaited Film of Actress Mahira Khan Verna now facing Release ProblemS in Pakistan due to Rape Scene in the Film. Reportedly, the Censor Board in Pakistan banned the film for dealing with rape and violence. Pakistan CBFC Chief Mobashir Hasan took to Twitter and said, “Verna banned by the #CBFC pending further appeal.” The film is highlighting real issues of Pakistan. Mahira Khan plays a rape victim survivor in the movie and she seeks justice to quench her thirst for retribution from a corrupt system

According to Film Director Shoaib Mansoor’s official press statement, the director has gone into appeal for the urgent review of his film. The film is expected to be reviewed by a full-board today that will decide the fate of the much-awaited flick. The Verna team is hopeful for the settlement to go in their favour.

Since the reports of a ban have come out, Twitter massively outraged and showered tweets largely condemning the Pakistan Central Board of Film Certification’s move.

Verna is Mansoor’s third film, following Khuda Kay Liye and Bol in which he continues his exploration of Pakistan’s social ills with a story of a rape survivor’s quest for justice.The film stars Mahira Khan, Haroon Shahid and Zarrar Khan in lead roles and slated for release this Friday.
