Airport Cleaner, Passenger Arrested for Smuggling Gold Worth Rs 14 Lakh at Delhi Airport


NEW DELHI: An airport employee and a passenger were arrested by the CISF( Central Industrial Security Force) at the Indira Gandhi International airport here Sunday on charges of smuggling gold.

CISF has recovered four gold bars worth Rs 14 lakh from them, one of whom is  Airport cleaner,  Rajneesh Pal, and the other has been identified as Shahnawaz who had come from Abu Dhabi by Etihad airlines.

According to the media report, The incident took place around 3 am at the arrival hall of the IGI airport when CISF personnel detected the suspicious activities of a cleaner working at the facility and an incoming passenger from Abu Dhabi.

Shahnawaz was caught while handed over the cigarette package with gold bars to Rajneesh Pal, in the smoking room. he two were arrested around 3.20 p.m. with four gold bars weighing 466 gram and concealed in a cigarette package.

Both of them have been handed over to Customs authorities after interrogation.
