Bikers Chasing Lions In Gujarat’s Gir Forest in Video Goes Viral; Police Arrested 3 People


Recently, A video showing four men on two bikes chasing Chasing Lion, Lioness  in Gujarat’s Gir Wildlife Sanctuary has gone viral. The less than a minute video shows four men, who for the sake of fun, chasing them and their cubs, and bullying them inside Gujarat’s famous Gir National Park.

Reportedly, The video is likely shot in Amreli area of Saurashtra region near the Gir National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat. Due to bikers, lions are seen running frantically to escape the them. The video has gone viral on the social media.

The video has left wildlife lovers & activists furious and has resulted in forest department officials initiating an inquiry. Meanwhile, one of the bike’s registration plates was caught on the video, and police officials quickly managed to arrest one of the four men from Rajkot. As per latest news, The four men, three of whom, the police say, have been arrested.

The Gir sanctuary in western Gujarat is the only natural habitat of Asiatic lions. The 1,400 sq km sanctuary has around 400 lions.Over 500 lions are estimated to be living in the Gir sanctuary. The Asiatic lion, once known a fearsome predator, is rarely known to attack humans who live around the Gir sanctuary.

This year in June, a similar video had emerged that showed a group of men in a car chasing a lion cub through the forest in Amreli district.
