IAF Officer Arun Marwaha arrested for Sharing confidential information


Arun Marwaha: Indian Air Force Officer Arun Marwaha was produced before a magistrate at Patiala Court from where he has been sent to five days’ police custody.The Cops arrested him on charges of espionage and allegedly sharing secret information to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. The officer leaked the confidential info’s and documents to a Pakistani agent who faked an affair pretending women and chatted with him on WhatsApp Messenger, says Investigative officers.

The IAF group captain shared confidential information about the three new tri-service agencies in the field of cyber warfare, space and special operations with the woman.

While the Delhi Police has now taken him into custody, the IAF officials are also probing if Marwaha could be a part of a larger espionage ring. Until now, there has been no trace of any monetary exchange between Marwaha and the ISI.

Even though the Delhi police have confirmed the arrest, no details regarding Marwaha’s interrogation has been revealed yet. Sources told the Times of India that the group captain was produced before the court of Deepak Sehrawat at Patiala House and has taken on a five-day remand.

The officer used to carry his cellphone into the Airforce headquarters, which was prohibited in the building. The Intelligence Wing caught Marwaha red-handed with his cellphone, while he was entering the headquarters. After questioning him for 10 days, the counter-intelligence wing of the Air Force turned the case over to the police.

The police are now also trying to identify the Pakistani handlers and will also investigate if Marwaha had other accomplices.
