A day before being sworn in as Member of the Legislative Assembly for RK Nagar, Rebel AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran, who won the R K Nagar byelection as an independent candidate, reached Bengaluru’s Prappana Agrahara Central Jail on Thursday afternoon to visit his aunt and Jayalalithaa’s former aide, V K Sasikala.
“Dhinakaran and his family members are meeting Chinnamma (Sasikala) between 12 and 1.30pm. It is a family visit, and Dhinakaran’s political supporters are not accompanying them,” TTV camp member and disqualified MLA S Thangatamilselvan. This is will be his first meeting with Sasikala after being elected to the Tamil Nadu assembly.
After the win, Dinakaran claimed the people of RK Nagar elected the heir to Jayalalithaa’s legacy. He claimed his faction were the “real” AIADMK. Dhinakaran will meet her to seek her blessings a day before being sworn in as MLA representing RK Nagar. Dhinakaran will take oath as an MLA in the speaker’s chamber on Friday.

His meeting with Sasikala also comes days after Dhinakaran warned that the ruling government led by Edappadi Paalaniswaami would fall in three months. Speculation is rife that the two may strategise on how to ensure MLAs defect from the ruling camp, which has a razor thin majority in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Presently, Dhinakaran enjoys the support of 18 MLAs, who were disqualified by the Speaker in September on the grounds of defection.
Meanwhile, the state Assembly will convene for the first time in 2018 on January 8, with Governor Banwarilal Purohit summoning the session. For more latest News Follow PressKS.
