Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be performing yoga at the International Yoga Day main event in Lucknow. International Yoga Day on Wednesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performing Yoga along with 51,000 participants in Lucknow.

 The Yoga Day celebrations will be followed by a two-day seminar session on June 22-23. Since the event is being held in Chandigarh, the Union Territory’s administration has also created a web portal of the event.

The United Nations will also observe the day through an event organised at the U.N. Secretariat Circle at its headquarters in New York by India’s Permanent Mission to the U.N., with the U.N.’s Department of Public Information. One can watch the live telecast of the event online, right from the beginning, on the Indian government’s official website of International Yoga Day.

To mark the importance of Yoga — which began in India 5,000 years ago — Indian missions in the Netherlands, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States, among other countries, will hold programmes on Yoga with participants from various sections of the society.

Adityanath and Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik have inspected the overall preparations, including the security arrangements, for the mega event, and attended full-dress rehearsals on Monday morning. The first International Yoga Day function held on June 21, 2015, at Rajpath in the national capital witnessed Narendra Modi performing Yoga along with over 200 million people across the country and over 37,000 people in Delhi alone.
