DUSU Election Results 2017 : The Results of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections 2017 Results mostly Announced today by afternoon. The DUSU elections counting has started today from 8:30 AM. Unlike last year, where only 36.2% of students cast their ballot a turnout that was the lowest since 2011 — this year 42.8% college students cast their votes. “Most of the girls came early in the morning to cast their votes. The polling booths opened at 8am and long lines were witnessed there,” said Sarita, another election volunteer.
The counting of vote is taking place today in the Delhi University. RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) wants to maintain its lead on the students’ union of the prestigious university.A total of 10 candidates are running for the post of President, in which the main contestants for the DUSU presidential post are ABVP’s Rajat Choudhary, NSUI’s Rocky Tusheed, AISA’s Parul Chauha, independent candidate Raja Choudury and independent Alka.
Delhi University had introduced “None Of The Above“(NOTA) for the first time. Along with the DUSU elections, the college union elections were also held simultaneously. ABVP has won all the posts in Shri Venkateshwara College, Laxmi Bai College, and Vivekananda College. The BJP students organization has also secured two positions in SGTB Khalsa College, Zakir Hussain College (Morning) among others.
The counting of votes will start at 8.30am on Wednesday. An update on the leads is expected after the first few rounds of counting. Currently, the third round of counting is underway. The NSUI seems to be confident of grabbing two seats while the ABVP is expected to hold on to the President’s post.The results are expected to be announced by noon.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has given a go-ahead to the Delhi University to declare the results for the post of President in the DUSU elections which was held today.
