Rahul Gandhi May take over Congress President Role Before Gujarat Elections


Finally Congress Party on Monday announced its internal election timeline. Rahul Gandhi, Vice President, is set to succeed his mother Sonia Gandhi and is expected to be elected unopposed like she has been for the last 17 years. Today After Meeting which take place at 10:30 am, Party Officials Announced the schedule for party president election at a press conference in New Delhi, the party said the poll notification will be issued on December 1 and the nomination and scrutiny process will be completed by December 5. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is December 11. Voting, if needed, will be held on December 16 and results will be declared on December 19, the party said.

As Per Party Officials, Rahul Gandhi May be elected the Congress President before the Gujarat assembly elections, which begin on December 9, the first of two days of voting. The Gujarat results will be announced on December 18.

In October, the Uttarakhand Congress passed a unanimous resolution seeking Gandhi’s elevation as the party president.Earlier, Rajasthan, Delhi and Goa units of Congress had passed similar resolutions regarding the Gandhi scion’s elevation.On October 1, Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot had said that Gandhi may take over as the Congress president shortly after Diwali, and had added that “the time was ripe for him to take the lead”.

In Other News Congress state president, Bharat Solanki, confirmed on Twitter that a ‘fake list’ having his signature was doing the rounds and that the Congress had released no such list. He added that he doesn’t have the authority to declare who the candidates are. Those named are always announced in Delhi by the All India Congress Committee.
