Former Congress Leader and Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna Joins BJP Party, after resigning from his parent party in January. Today on 22nd March SM Krishna formally joined the BJP this afternoon at its headquarters in New Delhi. At the programme, attended by party chief Amit Shah and other key leaders of the BJP, he said India has progressed “because of the leadership of PM Modi and Amit Shah”.
84-year-old Mr. Krishna nearly worked 50-year-old with the Congress Party on January 28, expressing dissatisfaction with being ignored by the party high command. SM Krishna put off his plan to join the BJP last week. Though he had reached New Delhi to hold Meeting with Mr. Shah and to join the party, he had to rush back to Bengaluru after hearing the news of her death.
Amit Shah Heartly welcomed Krishna joining the party and said: “With his wide experience in different portfolios, he is an asset to the country.” Krishna, on his part, returned the compliment and said: “I am deeply humbled that I am joining a political party which has given lot to the country.”
BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa will not attend Mr. Krishna’s BJP joining programme as he is campaigning in Nanjangud and Gundlupet. Other prominent BJP leaders from the State would be present, it is learnt.
