A very good news for all the Apple device lovers. Here is a very good news which might bring a smile on your face and dance inside. A trusted and reliable source has confirmed that Apple is planning to launch the cheapest Macbook Air later this year. This comes after the rumor surfaced which explains about the premium headphone which the company is working on.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities says a new model is in development. The company is planning to revive the MacBook Air by releasing a cheaper new model during the second quarter of 2018, he says. Kuo’s track record of predicting what Apple is going to do next is very good and we’ve got no reason to suspect he’s wide of the mark here. The MacBook Air has been around since 2008 and received its last refresh in June 2017.
The base $999 model includes a 13.3-inch 1,440-by-900 resolution display, a 128GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and is powered by a dual core 1.8GHz Intel Core i5-5350U with Intel HD Graphics 6000 integrated GPU. The processor is a 5th generation Intel chip first released back in early 2015, so it’s well overdue for an upgrade. So, the next cheaper model might come under $800 mark.
If Kuo’s prediction of a second quarter launch is accurate then expect Apple to make an announcement very soon. Kuo says the 2018 model will have a 13-inch display and a range of updated specs and features. Kuo believes consumer interest in the new MacBook Air model could boost Apple’s overall MacBook sales for 2018 by as much as 10-15%. If the report proves accurate, the laptop could make an appearance at Apple’s WWDC event in June, with a release likely to follow shortly after.
