The Facebook-owned, Popular photo & video sharing application, Instagram, will soon allow its users to post their Instagram Stories directly to the popular messaging app, WhatsApp, as its status. According to reports, Facebook is now testing this new feature between Instagram and WhatsApp. Back in October 2017, Facebook offered the users of Instagram the flexibility to share their Instagram Stories directly on Facebook.
According to TechCrunch, Facebook is currently running a test which will allow select users to share their Instagram Stories directly on WhatsApp as WhatsApp Status. The reason behind this move is simple: “make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you.” And of course, this is ok as long as it stays within the Facebook ecosystem.
“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you,” a spokesperson said.
This new feature will work by using the public API (application program interface) which will allow developers to integrate WhatsApp with third-party apps. Through this feature, users will get an option to tap to share to WhatsApp from Instagram sharing and they have to press “send” in WhatsApp to post the story. The move will surely benefit` both Instagram and WhatsApp as will make it easier for users to share on a cross-platform. This will also help both the platforms to boost traffic.
The feature is, however, currently available to a small number of users and is being tested.
