Indian squad for Test series was announced. Prasad addressing the media announced the test squad with 15 members. Hardik Pandya who is well known for the last over versus Bangladesh in T20 World Cup called for the test Debut. After a gap, Ishanth Sharma is back into the squad with a little hope to stay in Playing 11. Ajinkya Rahane is named Vice Captain for the team with Virat Kohli being Captain for the test Series against England.
Gambhir Stays in Eyes of Selectors While Dhawan Sitting out for Test Series Against England:
Shikhar Dhawan has an injury which made him sit out of the England Test series along with Rohith Sharma who has been considered a middle ordered test batsmen. Rohit Sharma diagnosed with a serious tendon injury in the upper part of the right leg, has been virtually ruled out of the five-Test series against England..
The Chikungunya effected fast bowler Ishant Sharma is back into the team convincing the selectors with his performance in Ranji trophy with long spells. Selectors also put some hopes for the Haryani Middle Order batsmen Karun Nair. He performed well in Ranji Trophy as well as in other formats too.
Prasad, addressed media with a disappointing face about Rohith Sharma’s injury, said “unfortunately we have all seen on TV that Rohit Sharma is badly injured. There is scope for surgical intervention. He is going to be assessed, and if required he might have to undergo a surgery. In case he doesn’t require a surgery, it could be six to eight weeks; if it is required it could be more. Dhawan has started his rehabilitation at the NCA and K.L. Rahul is not available for the first couple of Test matches as per the physio report.’’
Bhuvi Has Disappointing End With the Selectors:
Prasad’s answer after being questioned about Bhuvi, “He is just recovering and as far as the fitness report is concerned, he is available for selection. But we feel that whenever a player (wants to) come back, he should play at least a game, a Ranji Trophy game, so that we can assess him in terms of match fitness.”
