Indore-Patna Express Derails – Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu at Site:
Fourteen of the Indore-Patna Express coaches were derailed. Of them, the coaches S1 to S4 were the ones where more of the causality happened. S1 and S2 are the main point where one compartment went over the other and made out of the accident. The derailment may be because of Track Fracture.
The fracture in the track not only made the compartments derail but also piled up one over the other. The over crowded coaches jumped over each other where the main causality occurs. The train was at a speed of 110 km when the derailment occurred. One three tier coach also been effected with the damage but the damage is minimal.
“The focus of railway ministry has changed from operation to cosmetics. This is derailment of an entire railway organisation, not a train,” said Dinesh Trivedi, former Railway Minister and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Railways.
PM Narendra Modi tweeted in condolence to all the lives those who lost. “Anguished beyond words on the loss of lives due to the derailing of the Patna-Indore express. My thoughts are with the bereaved families,” PM tweeted. Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered a probe into the tragedy and announced Rs 3.5 lakh ex-gratia for the families of those killed and Rs. 50,000 for those grievously injured.
