Aami Malayalam Movie Review, Manju Warrier Aami Rating (3/5) – Aami Review

Aami Malayalam Film Review: We see many biopics of the people who influence people with their work. Now, this movie is a biopic of a Malayalam Author and poetess, Kamala Surayya who is popularly known as Kamala Das. This biopic is different from the movies which are coming these days. The movie’s trailer attracted many audiences and is one of the popular Indian English Poetess which may grab attention from many.

Aami is a Malayalam-language Indian biographical film written and directed by Kamal. It is based on the life of writer Kamala Surayya. The film stars Manju Warrier as Surayya, along with Murali Gopy, Tovino Thomas, and Anoop Menon. The movie is bankrolled by Raphael Thomas and Pozholiparambil while the music is composed by the music directors, M. Jayachandran and Taufiq Qureshi.

Aami Film Story: Aami is a biopic based on the life of the renowned poet and author Kamala Das, who was fondly referred by her pet name Aami. Her open and honest treatment of female sexuality, free from any sense of guilt, infused her writing with power and she got hope after freedom, but also marked her as an iconoclast in her generation. The movie deals with the problems and courage she had.

Aami Movie Review: Aami is a bold experiment to show the life of a poetess who is a controversial and open minded which gave the movie a kick start. The movie is going to be one of the best movies in Manju Warrier’s film career. There are many other cast who has some prominent roles in the movie while Manju Warrier has done hundred percent justice to Aami’s character.

Aami also features some of the popular Malayalam actors in important roles. Actress Jyothi Krishna will be seen essaying a crucial role. Renji Panicker, Tini Tom, Resna Pavithran etc., are also a part of the cast list.

Aami Movie Rating: 3.5/5

Verdict: The first half covers a lot of ground including her growing up years in Punnayurkulam, before the scene shifts to Mumbai and Kolkata as she trails her husband. The film does not have just a simple, linear narrative but one that captures her mental struggles and dilemmas. Songs and background music work well, but the same cant be said about the makeup of Manju.

The Malayalam movie has generated a lot of buzz. Will it live up to the viewers’ expectations?
