Can he find the missing link and nab the murderer before it is too late, forms the crux. Do Check: Sunil Two Countries Telugu Movie Review.
It all begins for an inspector (Sundeep Kishan) when he stumbles upon a murder. In trying to apprehend the criminal, he has a near-death experience. Against the advice of psychologist Adhirai (Lavanya Tripathi), he goes back to work, only to freak out when he comes across a murder which is eerily similar to the previous one. But how can that be, when that killer has already died? A couple more deaths happen, and Ruthran (Daniel Balaji, in a quintessential Daniel Balaji role), a motivational speaker, becomes the prime suspect. But is there more to these murders than meets the eye?
The film explores the concept of immortality, which is topical as companies like Google are working and expecting a breakthrough on it. It starts as a crime thriller and slowly moves on to become a sci-fi thriller. The film starts to skid as it lacks the emotions of a thriller due to hazy detailing which leaves certain crucial scenes unexplained.
Sundeep Kishan perfectly suits the role of an angry young cop, it’s a physically demanding role and the actor has given everything for it. After Sundeep, it’s Daniel Balaji who attracts us with his versatile performance but we feel that a better actor in place of Jackie Shroff would have worked better. Lavanya Tripathi has an important role in the film but she doesn’t have much screen space. The rest of actors including Bhagavathy Perumal, Jayaprakash, and Mime Gopi have given their best.
The narration is good although the first half is runs at a slow pace. But the story progresses rapidly in the second half. Performance wise, Sundeep Kishan gets full marks and has lived up to the viewers’ expectations.Daniel Balaji has enacted his role well. Ghibran has provided a solid background score, while the cinematography and editing are flawless. The movie became a hit in Tamil. If the promotions are good the Telugu version can also become a hit.
- Slick screenplay
- Soothing cinematography
- Running time
- Brilliant BGM
- Dragging first half compared to second half but the movie is overall an entertaining thriller
Project Z Movie Rating: 3.5/5
Verdict – Don’t miss Maayavan if you are looking for a gripping thriller!
