Sarkar Movie Review: Actor Thalapathy Vijay Most Awaited Film Sarkar is all set hit silver screens on 6th November. The action thriller is seeing the light of the day in over 3000 screens worldwide which clearly tells about the hype around it. Sarkar stars Vijay as a US-returned character who vows to bring about change in his society. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, It also stars Radha Ravi, Keerthi Suresh, Prem Kumar, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar and Yogi Babu in crucial roles. The popularity of Vijay is such that any movie of his that releases is welcomed with great fanfare by his fans, and some go even further, like screening his movie for 24 hours.
Story Plot: What happens when the ego of a man with a strong character is hurt? He wants to hit back and prove his point. The story of Sarkar goes on the similar lines. An NRI and business tycoon, Sundar (Vijay) comes to Chennai to take part in the election. He gets the biggest shock of his life when he realizes that his vote can be cast by someone else.
Sundar is badly hurt and being a powerful corporate, he has the natural instinct to crush whom he considers as his enemies. Now, the hero is in search of the truth which leads him to the corrupt politicians with the help of his sweetheart played by Keerthy Suresh.Sundar’s face off with the politicians and his fight for justice form the crux of the story.
It is heard that the director AR Murugadoss will also be seen playing a cameo in Vijay and Keerthy Suresh’s Sarkar. Going by the hype and pre-release buzz, Sakar is set to open big across screens worldwide in over 3,000 screens and in more than 80 countries, including South Africa, Poland, and Ukraine among others.
Vijay Performance: Vijay is his usual energetic self, and he dances well as always. However, on the performance aspect, he’s doing what he always does, with extreme hamming, an artificial dialogue delivery, and a body language which doesn’t gel well with that stylish CEO character he plays. His dialogue delivery is more like a Thamizh of Pokiri or a Sura and shows Vijay isn’t yet to fit in stylish characters.
Keerthy Performance: Keerthy Suresh is wasted as a typical eye candy and in most sequences, she looks even elder than Vijay with her poor makeup and costuming. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar plays a cliched role and does nothing more than giving buildup for Vijay’s character, while Radha Ravi and Pazha Karuppiah are totally underutilized in roles that totally don’t deserve them. The rest of the cast doesn’t get much significance.
Music for the film is by Academy Award winner AR Rahman who had also scored the music for Vijay’s last outing Mersal. Just like Aalaporan Tamizhan became a rage in Mersal, Oru Viral Puratchi has become a chartbuster. Vijay had called the song people’s identity. The song is sung by none other than AR Rahman himself along with Srinidhi Venkatesh.
Overall, Sarkar is neither an awesome film like Murugadoss earlier films nor an unbearable watch.. Watch it for the relevant political theme, towering performance of Vijay and the screenplay of Murugadoss.
