Kollywood Super Star Kamal Haasan Vishwaroopam 2 is a mixed bag when you compare it with the first part. The sequel is a continuation of the plot, with a long-drawn-out explanation trying to link the two films. The narrative ends up going back and forth and doesn’t feel coherent. Fans were seen thronging in large numbers outside cinema halls to see the onscreen magic of Kamal Haasan in Vishroopam 2. Apart from Kamal Haasan, Vishroopam 2 also stars Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Shekhar Kapur in pivotal roles.

The adventures of the Indian RAW agent Wisam (Kamal Hassan) continues in Vishwaroopam 2. He has unfinished business: to hunt down the Al Qaeda terrorist Omar (Rahul Bose), who escaped in the first part. Omar and his friends, including a traitor in the Indian embassy Iyer (Ananth Mahadevan), are planning to bomb London and Delhi. And so Wisam —aided by his boss (Shekhar Kapoor), his assistant Ashmita Subramaniam (Andrea) and his wife Nirupama (Pooja Kumar), who is a nuclear oncologist —decides to take on Omar and his gang.

The second half has lengthier scenes and is far more gripping, making it a good watch,” an excerpt of Vishwaroop 2 movie review by Pressks.

The spy thriller revolves around a master plan of Al-Qaeda terrorist Omar Qureshi to attack New York City which gets destroyed by the Indian Intelligence Bureau Agent Wisam through his investigation. Omar somehow manages to escape from New York. Wisam, on the other hand, is given the responsibility to kill Omar and other terrorists.

Vishwaroopam 2 also stars Shekhar Kapur, Waheeda Rehman, Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nasser, Anant Mahadevan, Yusuf Hussain and Rajendra Gupta. Music composer Ghibran is the man behind the background score which adds a dramatic value to the film.

While advanced booking of tickets in India began in the last minute yesterday, pre-booking in overseas markets including Australia, France, New Zealand and USA is seeing a very strong response, according to a report in The Times of India. It will also be screened at the Le Grand Rex in Paris.

While good pre-sales are always positive news, it will amount to nothing if the movie does not take off at its home ground. Even trade experts are not sure how Vishwaroopam 2 will do in Tamil Nadu as the state is still recovering from Karunanidhi’s death.
