Increase In Andhra Pradesh Assembly Seats; Check Number of Seats by District


Andhra Pradesh Assembly Seats : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu stressed on Central Governement on raising the Assembly seats in the state, sayikng it “will increase” from the present strength of 175 to 225 soon. If the News is believed, the file concerning the delimitation of constituencies has reached the PMO and the revelation is anticipated to be out soon.So, additional 50MLAs will enter the assembly. The Section 26 (1) of the AP Reorganisation Act states that “subject to the provisions of Article 170 of Constitution”, the number of seats in the legislative assembly of the successor states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana shall be increased.The Centre has now proposed to amend the Act deleting the reference of Article 170 to pave way for the increase of seats.

Among All East Godavari will become one of the largest number of constituencies in the state now, Which Gets Seven New Seats in the demarcation Increasing it to 26. Other districts Guntur and Krishna will have 22 and 20 seats respectively. Vishakapatnam and West Godavari will get 19 assembly seats. In the Rayalyaseema region, Kurnool, Anantapur and Chittoor with the demarcation will get 4 new constituencies increasing the count to 18 constituencies per district.

Hoping that the number would go up, the Telugu Desam Party has admitted quite a number of legislators from YSRC into its party fold, promising them party tickets in the 2019 Assembly elections.
