He is also known as Captain Cool for Indian Cricket Team. M.S. Dhoni just quits as captain but will be available for T20 and ODI team versus England starting January 15.
M.S. Dhoni Quits Captaincy for One Day and T20 Teams:
Dhoni communicated with the chairman of selectors MSK Prasad in Nagpur, where the Jharkhand team which is mentored by Dhoni was playing against Gujarat in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy. Dhoni was seen having a long conversation with Prasad during the tea break. “We all know his sense of integrity and patriotism, and he has got high clarity in thinking. Probably he felt that is the best decision, so let us respect it.”
The BCCI’s senior selection committee will meet on Friday to announce the Indian cricket team for the three-match One-Day Internationals (ODI) and the subsequent three T20 Internationals. After a 4-0 win against England in test series, Indian will play against England in 3 One Dayers and 3 T20’s in India. The first ODI will played in Pune on January 15 followed by the second and third games on January 19 and 22 at Cuttack and Kolkata respectively.
India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli is likely to take over captaincy of the limited overs team following Dhoni’s decision. “On the behalf of every Indian cricket fan and the BCCI, I would like to thank MS Dhoni for his outstanding contribution as the captain of the Indian team across all formats,” BCCI chief executive Rahul Johri said. “Under his leadership, Indian team has touched new heights and his achievements will remain etched forever in the annals of Indian cricket.”
