Telangana : A Video Which is going viral in social media shows telangana BJP leader Bharat Reddy forcing two Dalit youths from the Nizamabad district into a filthy pond.The incident happened at Abhangapatnam village of Navipet block in September but was came to limelight on Sunday after a video clip of the incident went viral on various social media groups in the state.The two Dalit men identified as Kondra Laxman and Rajesh, According to sources, the BJP leader, Bharat Reddy, was angry after the two youths objected for trucks transporting sand from the nearby Errakunta Lake.
Video Shows Bharath Reddy is heard using obscene language to force the duo to take a full dip in the dirty water even as their pleas for forgiveness fall on deaf ears.The incident was recorded on a phone by one of his followers and Reddy himself was seen shooting the Dalits taking a dip in the dirty waters.The inspector said the video clip clearly showed the BJP leader intimidating the men.
Following this, the dalit organizations are staging protests demanding his arrest. While the police have registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the Dalit leaders, the youths, however refused to lodge a complaint against Bharat Reddy.“We are investigating into the matter and take appropriate action based on the evidence,”Nizamabad (rural) circle inspector of police N Buchaiah said.
Caste-based discrimination and violence has been prohibited in India since 1955 under the Protection of Civil Rights Act. But instances of Dalits being treated as downtrodden in many Indian states continue to surface.

Some reports said Reddy is a Bharatiya Janata Party member, but the party has denied the claim. “The individual exhibiting barbaric and unacceptable behaviour in Nizamabad on Dalits is not a BJP leader, nor does he hold any position in the party at any level,” the Telangana BJP said, according to The New Indian Express.
