India’s biggest air carrier IndiGo is offering all-inclusive tickets starting at Rs. 1,112 on select routes. This Price is applicable to the few selected routes like Chennai-Bengaluru route. IndiGo is offering tickets below Rs. 1,200 on several routes. A search on the IndiGo bookings portal on Friday showed tickets for Jammu-Srinagar at Rs. 1,168, Delhi-Jaipur Rs.1,178, Imphal-Guwahati Rs. 1,212, Bhubaneswar-Kolkata 1,299 and Goa-Bengaluru Rs. 1,316. A check on IndiGo’s website showed the Rs. 1,120 fare was available on the Chennai-Bengaluru route later this month.
Indian aviation market is fastest growing in the world. Travellers carried by domestic airlines during January-September 2017 were 849.94 lakh as against 726.98 lakh during the corresponding period of previous year, registering a growth of 16.91 per cent.Airlines operating in the domestic market offer discounts around the holiday season around New Year, in their bid to attract passengers during a period marked with high demand, say analysts.
Meanwhile, Mumbai based low-cost airlines GoAir has also launched its “The 12th Fares” promotions, celebrating its 12 years of operations in India. Launched on Friday, the scheme offers passengers tickets starting as low as Rs 312 to Rs 2412 excluding taxes from travel time period from December 1, 2017 to October 28, 2018.
The special fares will be offered on 54 routes from 7 cities that are New Delhi, Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. The company said that the offer is available on “first come first serve basis” and tickets can be purchased from November 24 to November 29 on GoAir website www.Goair.in. Apart from IndiGo, AirAsia India had recently announced flight tickets at prices as low as Rs 1,299.The AirAsia India offer ends on November 5 and is applicable on travel till April 30, 2018.
Air travel has witnessed rapid growth in India. Air travel volume breached the 10-million mark in October for the first time registering a healthy growth of 20.52 per cent over the same period last year.
According to the data released by DGCA, Indian carriers flew as much as 10.45 million passengers in the month of October 2017.
