Kolkata: As Per Media Reports A Dance teacher of a private English- medium school in the city was detained today after a Class 2 student alleged that he had sexually abused her, police said. The Incident came to limelight when the girl recently stopped going to school. When asked for the reason, the victim confided her traumatic experience to her mother prompting the parents to go and meet the school administration. The parents alleged that the school administration even tried to downplay their allegations.
One of the protesting parents said the school had denied the allegations by the victim and her parents. “It was then that we decided to stage a protest outside the school,” he said.
The protesting parents demanded that the school authorities hand over the teacher to them and that justice would be served. A local police officer said: “We then decided to take the victim, her parents and the accused out of the school premises.”Officials of the state committee for the protection of child rights said there were at least six CCTV on the school premises but they were told that the cameras were “under repair or being serviced”, so there was no footage that could be checked.
The incident has emerged just two months after a four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her two PT teachers at GD Birla Education Centre. Angry parents at GD Birla had protested for days until the principal was removed and the teachers were arrested. Also last year, an employee at another Kolkata school was arrested for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl.
State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee told a TV channel, “We have already set guidelines for schools to follow. We will see if the guidelines were followed or not in this case.”
