Actor Om Puri Dies Heart Attack at 66, Bollywood Sadenns for his Death


Om Puri Dies: 2017 started with a very sad note for Bollywood with the death of Om Puri. This came as shock for many bollywood celebs. Om Puri is a great actor and also a good character to be noted. There were many celebs who took to twitter and gave their messages and expressed their feelings. This actor appeared in mainstream commercial Indian, British, and Hollywood, independent films and art films. His credits also include appearances in American films. He was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India.

Even PM Narendra Modi tweeted his deep condolences on Om Puri’s death. Narendra Modi Tweeted that: “@PMOIndia – The Prime Minister condoles the passing away of actor Om Puri & recalls his long career in theatre & films.” He studied at the Film and Television Institute of India and at the National School of Drama, where Naseeruddin Shah was his classmate. His best films include Bhavai (1980), Sadgati (1981), Ardh Satya (1982), Mirch Masala (1986) and Dharavi (1992).

Born in Ambala, Haryana, to a Punjabi family, the actor made his debut in films in a marathi film Ghashiram Kotwal in 1972. Om Puri’s body is at his residence in Andheri and his old friends and colleagues from Bollywood have arrived to pay their last respects. Born on 18 October 1950, the actor was known for his outstanding performances in not just Indian but also Pakistani films.

The legendary actor died of a heart attack. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit tweeted saying that the actor passed away. “Sad & shocked to know that versatile actor Om Puri jee has expired due to a heart attack early morning today. #RIP.” Following him, Karan Johar also tweeted that, “Solid actor….Solid filmography….immense talent…. #RIPOmPuri ….cinema has truly lost a brilliant artist….”

Bollywood mourns his demise

Puri’s friends in Bollywood were left shell-shocked by his death. Mahesh Bhatt tweeted: Goodbye Om! A part of me goes with you today. How can I ever forget those passionate nights we spent together talking about cinema & life ? Boman Irani also tweeted: “RIP Om Puri. We have lost one of our finest. A talent, A Voice, A Spirit.Will miss you Puri Saab.”
