Two Crude Bombs Found while digging for Metro Pillars in Mumbai


During Metro digging in Mumbai Two Crude Bombs Found and As soon as the authorities were informed about the explosives, they summoned the bomb disposal squad. While one bomb exploded at the site during the excavation, the second bomb was defused. which was later defused and sent for forensic testing. A Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) official informed an on-duty officer about the explosives found during the excavation work on the Metro Line just outside the Mumbai Central Railway Station.

A senior police officer told mid-day that around 6.30 pm workers at the Metro construction site informed the police that they had found a suspicious object while digging, nearly one meter under the road surface.Confirming the discovery, deputy commissioner of police, zone III, Virendra Mishra said, “A suspicious, old bomb-like heavy object in crude form was found at the Metro construction site. The staff of BCT with a dog squad reached the site and informed Nagpada Police about the matter.

AK Singh, Chief Security Commissioner, Western Railway, said, “Railways BDDS squad along with Mumbai Police defused the bombs and have sent them to the forensic laboratory.” MMRCL is currently building the Maratha Mandir station at the spot. The police suspect that the bombs might be old as they were found buried deep in the ground. Further details are awaited.
